The principals, Mickey and Mark Bufalini, each have over three decades of experience in their respective fields. Our combined architecture and interior design expertise allow us a unique niche in the Residential Architecture/Design process. Our distinctive method of combining detailed specifications and construction documents allow for probably the most accurate bidding possible for a new home. In this market where every dollar counts, we feel this amount of detail gives our clients peace of mind when launching one of the most expensive endeavors of their lifetime. Our clients find the finished product to be a residence that furnishes beautifully and meets their needs and expectations without compromise. We believe in spending the time required designing a project so that the time spent in their home is enjoyable, satisfying and without regret.
Based in Houston with a majority of current projects in Texas, our jobs also reach as far as New Mexico, California, Colorado, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Florida.
At CDG we endeavor to anticipate the needs of our client as well as the builder and subcontractors working on a project. We feel it is not only our responsibility to be the creative driver of a project, but a reasonable participant, a firm that is cognizant of how important our timely interaction is to a successful project.
To us, success is measured by a client that is proud of the way their project looks upon completion, a budget that was respected, and a builder that found us competent, professional and above all, easy to work with.
We will continually strive to keep our creativity fresh, our thinking flexible, and our perspectives unique in order to bring our clients the very best design each and every time. Collaborative Design Group will always create rooms that are transformed not by chance or whim, but with an inspired execution of the design process and with clearly defined programs that employ the disciplines, details, and expertise that one expects from their Design Professional.

Mark Bufalini, AIA is one of the founding partners of Collaborative Design Group Architecture along with his wife, Mickey. Mark received his Bachelors of Architecture degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is a Registered Architect in both New Jersey and Texas. Mark has over 30 years of architecture and design experience in both the public and private sector. As a young architect, he began working on a prestigious portfolio of work including the Pittsburgh Zoo, Three Rivers Stadium and worked to bring the historical row homes of Pittsburgh back to their former glory. Mark relocated to Texas where he met and married Mickey. Mark worked in the multifamily residential sector before moving to New Jersey after getting married. His attention was then redirected to include the design of many prestigious residences in the New York and New Jersey area where he honed his skills in the high end residential market on the east coast.
Upon his return to Texas, Mark spent a decade as the Senior Vice President of Design for a national top 50 home builder. Mark was brought in to overhaul the production housing market in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin. One of his first projects was to develop the first brownstone and row house subdivisions, 3 and 4 story row and single family homes in the Midtown area near downtown Houston. Mark spearheaded cost effective designs, and with the creative use of limited square footage and space, he was able to create and design new floor plans. His creative touch continued through the rest of the production house categories of the company.
When Mark began Collaborative Design Group in 2006, he was experienced in all phases of the architectural process. Mark’s work is characterized by integrating innovative and original design ideas into his client’s homes. His strengths include collaborative problem solving skills and developing lifestyle designs that endure through his aesthetic integrity.
Mark believes in staying current with continuing education courses throughout the year which satisfies his hunger for learning, he is an avid photographer and is taking courses to perfect his skills. Mark embraces all architectural challenges, and his enthusiasm for design is contagious.
As the other founding partner of Collaborative Design Group, Mickey Bufalini is dedicated to forming personal relationships with each and every one of her clients. She gives each of her design projects her personal attention and aims to prioritize her client’s own preferences for style and color over her own, thereby creating unique, comfortable and timeless designs. As principal and lead interior designer for Collaborative Design Group Interiors, she has built a formidable enterprise by encouraging creativity among her team of professionals who are consistently furthering their education in construction detail, interior design and interior specification.
Mickey always knew she wanted to pursue her passion for design, sired from a family of prolific artists, she was encouraged by a remarkable teacher in high school, where she studied Interior Design as an elective. She went on to get her Bachelor of Science in Interior Design with a minor in Art History at Stephen F. Austin University. After college, she relocated to the New York area with her new husband, an architect. Together their architectural and design collaboration trained Mickey to become extremely adept in architectural and interior specifications for new home construction. She and her family have traveled throughout Europe and Mickey is continually enthused by her love of architecture and design and believes these are the cornerstones to her continued inspiration. Equipped with the vital experience gained from her challenging work in the architectural world, she has developed a unique combination for an Interior designer-one with a love of texture, colors, furniture and history, along with a unique ability to tie it to the architectural finishes and details required of both the exterior and interiors of a home.
Mickey places particular importance on client satisfaction, and with over 30 years of experience in the Interior Design Industry, Mickey instills client confidence that their project will be finished timely and with complete client satisfaction.

Kendall graduated from Texas Tech University in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design and a double minor in Art History and Architecture. Kendall’s previous work experiences include design and architecture assistance for a local residential and hospitality architecture firm, a local paint contracting company and an internship in New York City for an acclaimed Interior Design firm. After graduating she first worked for a small, local Interior Design firm where she got a lot of hands on experience and knowledge of local vendors. Her various work experiences have helped her understand the collaborative effort it takes to create someone’s dream space and to appreciate each skill for their specialty. Kendall is inspired by fashion, traveling and different cultures that she incorporates into her designs in various ways. She is most passionate about incorporating textures, patterns and pulling together all of the colors of a space to really showcase a client’s personality and, like Wearstler said above, “add spice.” She is an active member of ASID and is currently working towards her NCIDQ certification to become a licensed designer.
Kendall is an avid Red Raider fan and during football season she travels almost every weekend from Houston to Lubbock to watch her team “Wreck-em!”.
